Let's All Go Gluten-Free
Share
In 2009 at the tender age of 42, I was told I needed to be gluten-free. First of all, what the heck is gluten-free? And why would I have to become gluten-free? The textbook definition is that gluten is a protein found in the wheat plant and some other grains. My personal definition: it was ruining my life and relationships. I had acid reflux, digestive issues, and severe flatulence. This caused me to be an unhappy girl.
Once I was diagnosed with the intolerance and began to heal my issues, my life got much better. I no longer had to hide in my office or avoid people due to feeling uneasy or stinky. But herein lies the next issue: finding great tasting gluten-free products that were not overrun with sugar or other intolerable ingredients.
Not finding what I wanted to consume as a self-proclaimed snacker, I began baking, and our emerging business was born. Building this business is not just my occupation, it is truly my calling. I want the world to experience optimal health, feel great every day, move more, and live better-- these are the reasons we exist.
We started with no funds (not much has changed), no experience, and no followers on social (we now have at least five...lol). We now have the pleasure of being on-shelf at several retailers, including Whole Foods (2016-2024), Mariano's, Vintage Grocers in Malibu, CA, and several other retailers. The retail business is challenging, and we are now in food service with Sodexo Magic, as well as in e-commerce on this site and Amazon (challenging to make money).
It is our belief that we could all take a break from gluten, giving our bodies a chance to feel better and heal. There is so much in our food system today that is not good for us: GMOs (genetically modified organisms), gluten, high fructose corn syrup, glyphosate, and more that we should absolutely avoid. I ask that you at least give it a good old-fashioned try to determine if you too have some food sensitivities that you were not aware of. Let's all go gluten-free, if only to determine if you indeed do feel better. You have little to lose, who is with me?
